FOUR MINUTE CITY
Local elections are nearly upon us and we need to make it clear what is expected of the Glasgow city administration after May 5th. The SANE Collective is therefore inviting you to join with us to draw up a list of demands which will make the city fairer, greener and a more hopeful place for all its residents.
We are hosting an event from 6pm – 8pm on April 27th in which all attendees will be invited to speak for up to 4 minutes on the main vision for Glasgow for you or your organisation, and outcomes that you would like to see achieved over the next 4 years. We ask you to consider not only the ways in which we can reform our current systems to help achieve these outcomes, but also to imagine or demonstrate what alternative processes and practices outwith ‘traditional political activities’ might benefit these outcomes.
Following the event, the SANE Collective will produce a report of the testimonies and demands of the attendees. As well as using the contributions to build a list of demands for the incoming Council administration, we will also be recording them and publishing them as a resource on the upcoming new website for the People’s Plan for Glasgow. We hope that speakers will present live at the event but we can also facilitate pre-recorded presentations if necessary. If you are unable to attend or do not wish to be recorded, we invite you to submit a written testimony of no longer than 600 words. If you are unable to commit during the election period but support the project, we will continue to welcome submissions of 4 – minute videos to keep building the resource after the election period is over.
Following the list of demands being circulated, we will host a follow-up event to discuss the findings, feedback, and how we might join together to increase the likelihood of our outcomes being achieved.
